A variety of transportation choices available in Chiang Mai

Without question the most popular form of Thai transportation is the motor bike or what is commonly called a scooter.
Referred to by many foreigners as the -- "Thai Family Car" familythaistationwagon -- often you can see mom - dad - and 2 or 3 or more kids on one bike -- with a big load of groceries.
jronbike Driving rules are almost non existent. Frequently kids as young as 8 can be seen buzzing along with 2 or 4 friends lined up behind him on the seat.

Next in popularity is The Infamous Thai Tuk-tuk tuk-tuk-gang
is popular and low priced..( average around town ride is less than $2. ( about 150 Baht )

We also have the famous Chiang Mai "Songthaew". redbuss (red colored Pickup truck sized busses)..which constantly roam the streets trolling for passengers ...average cost per person is about 65 Cents. ( about 35/40 Baht )

Metered taxi's are new here this year taxi -- over 200 new cabs are now in the new Fleet...from the airport to my building is only about $3.

We also have a new Public Bus System this year new Air conditioned busses covering 5 routs around the city. -- Very cheep -- about 50 Cents a ride no matter how far you go.

You can also rent a car for very low rates.

Most forms of transport are available 24 hrs. So it is always easy to get around the city.

The choice is yours -- depending on the weather, how many persons or what you have to transport home.
